I am secretary of The Scuds Social Golf Club Inc. whom have been playing at Whaleback every week (apart from 8 – 10 away games each year) since 1992 these are my personal suggestions for the Whaleback Master Plan |
A large multi feature constructed “The Parkwood Recreation Centre” several stories high with a multi-storey car park underneath the building, specifically for local clubs and residents of the shire. |
The 3 or 4 storey building featuring a range of facilities |
Ground Floor = Reception area with stairs and elevators, change rooms, toilets, restaurant, bar, cocktail bar and alfresco area and possibly a rooftop restaurant. |
Second Floor: suitable areas and space for - snooker and pool, squash and racquet ball, badminton and possibly basketball, and other sports like table tennis, darts, etc. as required. |
Third Floor: Offices, meeting rooms and function room or large catering area with meal facilities An area internally and externally for a swimming pool and spa or tubes area, this can be two areas one pool and spa inside and one tubes pool outside. |
Outdoor open area: for golf (18 hole) with practice facilities and driving range, tennis 6-8 courts) , bowls (4 lanes) , 5-A-Side Soccer or volleyball enclosure. |
The building will be central to all playing fields, with each floor dedicated to specific recreational events A feature floor with restaurant and bar facilities change rooms and reception. |

Pool Tables | At lease two for after game use or competitions. |
Snooker Tables | At least two available to book |
Function Room | For presentation Nights Quiz Nights etc. |
Multi-media equipped function and dining rooms | For meetings and hire by organisations. |
Dinning Room | For Dinner Dances Christmas, Easter Functions etc. |
Dart Board | For after game competition. |
Massage or Physic Therapy Centre | If a physiotherapist takes up residence for all users. |
Fitness Gym | Members only gym with trainers. |
Golf Course | 18 holes resort style |
Golf Driving range | Improve safety fences see how many practice balls land on holes 9, 14 and 15. |
Mini Golf Course | Like Wembley with water features and contours |
Lighting for last 3 holes on each 9 to enable late night play | Extends playing time |
Special Professional Golf Area for teaching | Peter and staff have an exclusive coaching area especially for young players as well. |
Tennis Courts | At least 6 - 8 all floodlit |
Change Facilities for everyone | Showers and toilets for all clubs and visitors. |
Bowls Lawn Bowls club | At least 4 courts floodlit |
Multi sport outdoor area 5-A-Side soccer, Volleyball etc. | Universal outdoor fenced area. |
Boules or Petanque | Small area suitable for this sport |
Squash Courts | At least 2 courts lit |

SCUD - A missile with a range of approximately 300 km used by Iraq in the Iran-Iraq War and in the Gulf Wars about the 1990's often with
erratic and inaccurate flight paths and direction. Perfectly suited to our members ability at golf.
